For students & parents in Sri Lanka

The foreign university documentation process, explained for Sri Lankan applicants.

Every year, thousands of students across Sri Lanka receive an offer from a university in Australia, New Zealand, Canada, the UK or Malta, and then stall on the paperwork. Ventus Global Education exists for exactly that gap: turning your identification records, academic transcripts and financial evidence into a single, embassy-ready documentation file, built by people who understand how a Colombo bank statement, an EPF/ETF letter or a Sri Lankan property deed actually reads to a visa officer overseas.

01

Identification & personal documents

Passport copies, NIC, birth and marriage certificates, plus (for the UK, New Zealand and Australia) the medical, TB and police clearance paperwork embassies ask for before they'll even open your file.

02

Educational documents

O/L and A/L results from the Department of Examinations, degree or diploma certificates and transcripts, plus the English proficiency test your destination country actually accepts.

03

Financial & sponsor documents

Salary slips, EPF/ETF confirmation, six months of bank statements, fixed deposits, and (if the money comes from a property or vehicle sale) the source-of-funds trail that makes it hold up.

04

Visa application & submission

Forms filed, biometrics booked, and every document formatted the way the embassy wants it: A4, scanned, certified, and translated to English where the original isn't.

Frequently asked questions

What documents do Sri Lankan students need for a foreign student visa?+

Every application needs three groups of documents: identification (passport, NIC, birth certificate), educational records (O/L, A/L, degree transcripts and English test results), and financial evidence (bank statements, sponsor letters and proof of funds). Exact requirements shift by destination: Australia's GTE statement, the UK's CAS shield and Canada's GIC each add their own layer on top of the basics.

How long should bank statements be for a student visa application from Sri Lanka?+

Most Australian, New Zealand, Canadian and UK student visas expect at least six months of personal savings or current account statements, with balance confirmation letters issued no more than 28 days before submission. Business income needs two years of certified financial statements instead.

What is a Genuine Temporariness (GTE) or Genuine Student (GS) statement?+

It's a written statement (required for Australia and similar destinations) explaining why you're studying this course, why this country, and your plan to return home or move on afterward. Immigration officers read it as closely as your bank statements, so it needs to be written in your own voice, not copied from a template.

Do I need my documents translated or certified?+

Yes. Any document not already in English needs to be translated by a sworn translator and submitted alongside a certified copy of the original in its native language. Most embassies also expect documents in A4 size, scanned and in PDF format.

Can a relative other than my parents sponsor my studies?+

For some destinations (Australia and Canada in particular), grandparents, siblings, aunts and uncles can sponsor a student, provided the relationship is proven through birth and marriage certificates linking sponsor to applicant. The UK and New Zealand are generally stricter about who can act as a financial sponsor.
